About Us

Blackbird Physiotherapy started with a pitch to a loan officer about fingers. He bought it. Many years later, we’ve expanded to thumbs, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and pretty much everything else.

Today, our team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a kinesiologist, and a registered massage therapist, allowing us to treat a wide range of conditions beyond the hand and shoulder.

Whether you’re recovering from a car accident, dealing with pelvic health issues, navigating a workplace injury, or simply need relief from chronic tension, we offer individualized care tailored to your goals.

Located in Nelson, BC, we serve clients from across the West Kootenays.

  • Full-body physiotherapy, including pelvic floor therapy and breath work

Our Story

In 2014, Jodi and Christy opened Blackbird Physiotherapy with a simple goal: provide expert therapy for hand and upper extremity injuries in a nurturing, optimistic, and joyful environment.

A decade later, that vision has grown. We now have four Certified Hand Therapists with unique skillsets, and have expanded our team to include Kinesiology, Registered Massage Therapy, and Community Occupational Therapy. We also offer Functional Capacity Evaluations. This team approach allows us to serve the growing need for specialized care throughout the Kootenays.

We still do hands. We’re very good at hands. But we’ve learned that helping someone recover means meeting them wherever the problem is, and following it wherever it leads.
